While you’re sure to have an unforgettable experience any time of the year, so it’s difficult to definitively say when is the best time to go to the Mayan Riviera, as the time of year will depend on exactly what type of experience you are looking for.

If you want to experience small crowds, the best time to go to the Mayan Riviera is during the late spring and summer months, from May until September. While this area is usually densely populated with tourists from around the globe, the summer months tend to be a little bit less of an attractive time to travel to the area, due to the high temperatures. The Mayan Riviera’s southern location means the area experiences high temperatures and high humidity during the late spring and summer months. These weather conditions help to minimize crowds (though you’ll certainly still have a good bit of companions), making your trip to the area a bit more intimate. During this time of the year, you may find that it is easier to book a room in your choice hotel, make reservations at one of the premier restaurants or find a spot on one of the beautiful beaches along the coastline. However, the trade off to these smaller crowds is, of course, the warmer temperatures. Temperatures at this time of the year can easily reach and exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit and the humidity can exceed 100 percent. If you’d prefer to experience more tolerable, cool weather, the best time to go to the Mayan Riviera for you would likely be in the fall and winter months, from October through March. If you live in a cold climate, this may be the best time to go the Mayan Riviera to escape the cold of your home and experience a tropical paradise. The down side to traveling to the Mayan Riviera during this time of the year is the crowds. Since this is such a popular vacation destination, many people who want to avoid the hot weather between May and September, or who want to escape the cold conditions of their homes travel visit the area during this time of the year. While you will experience more pleasant conditions at this time of the year, you’ll also experience larger crowds and may therefore find it more difficult to reserve a room in your choice hotel, make reservations at restaurants and be subjected to large groups at the top sites and attractions the area has to offer.
